Occupy Eugene still serving 800 meals daily and visiting banks too! Occupy Eugene Protesters Join “National Day of Action.”
November 17, 2011
By Desmond O’Boyle (KLCC Radio)
As part of the “National Day of Action” Occupy Eugene demonstrators are rallying against corporate greed today. Protesters marched to Umpqua Bank where they hung a banner protesting the banks alleged involvement with clear cutting. A group remained blocking both entrances. Protesters then marched to U.S. Bank and Wells Fargo where they found both had closed. Signs were posted alerting customers they would remain closed until further notice. KLCC’s Desmond O’Boyle spoke with protester Kristen Carpenter about the banks closure.
Carpenter- “Oh I think it’s fantastic. I think they should close every day. If we have a protest every day, maybe we can cost them millions and millions of dollars.”
Yay for Occupy Eugene! Good luck – keep us posted
Eugene doesn’t use an indymedia site but they sometimes post to portland.indymedia.org or the earthfirst! newswire.
As an update there was a series of recent articles about the deforestation and, particularly, Umpqua bank – posted today:
