Over 500 protestors participated in the D17 Immigrant Rights Rally and March, endorsed by Occupy Portland, JWJ, PCASC, VOZ, AFSC, ISO, ORFTC, We Are Oregon, PIRC, and many other groups. This event focused on removing the “legal and ethnic divisions that the 1% use to divide and conquer the 99%. We blame the recession on those who caused it, the most wealthy 1%,” according to the flyers distributed by PCASC.
This was a permitted, family-friendly event, and an opportunity to join with the Occupy movement to support the immigrant communities in the US against racist laws and policies that systematically target and impact them.
