Elliott Rainforest Reportback: no chainsaws and no logging trucks

Cascadia Forest Defenders. Aug 1:

This week in the Elliott

About this time last summer we were occupying the Elkhorn Ranch timber sale.

Heard: Murrelets flying over the Millicoma watershed, coyotes howling and laughing deep in the forest, dew falling from the canopy at dawn, frogs chirping at dusk.

Seen: A family of elk, a porcupine dawdling across a logging road at midnight, salamanders lazing in sunny shallows, the Cascadian (and pirate?) flag billowing from the Cougar Mountain lookout tower.

Unheard: Chainsaws
Unseen: Log trucks

Let’s keep it this way!
