Grays Harbor: Insanity plea in Montesano courthouse shooting

SeattleTimes. Sept 10:

A plea of not guilty by reason of insanity was entered for the man accused of stabbing a judge and shooting a sheriff’s deputy in the Grays Harbor County Courthouse at Montesano.

Trial for Steven Kravetz is tentatively set for next spring.

KOMO-TV reports ( http://is.gd/Hsw1AY) a Lewis County judge conducted Friday’s hearing, and Kravetz is being held in the Mason County Jail. His lawyer is expected to ask that that trial be moved outside Grays Harbor County.

The 34-year-old McCleary man is charged with attempted murder and assault in the March 9 attack. The judge and deputy have recovered.

Prosecutors believe Kravetz was obsessed with a 2005 case and went to the courthouse in an attempt to steal court files.
